We Need to Hear from You

It is once again that time of year to login to the AdvancED Web site and update the demographic information for your school or district.  To update your demographics, just click here to visit the AdvancED Web site, and then login with your e-mail address and password.  After logging in, place your mouse over the Accreditation tab, and click on Demographics Update.  If you have not logged into the Web site before or if you need assistance, please contact our office.


Volunteer to Serve

We have school level and district level Quality Assurance Review (QAR) visits scheduled for the 2011-2012 school year.  Please contact Karen Jordan at kjordan@advanc-ed.org if you are interested in volunteering to serve on a visit.

2011 AdvancED International Summit Expands Program

More featured topics and speakers have been added to the 2011 AdvancED International Summit program.  The Summit, which takes place March 19-21 in Chicago, IL, is themed the Power to Transform and will engage thought leaders, practitioners, and policymakers in deliberation on today’s most pressing and provocative issues facing our educational system.  The summit program features dynamic professional learning opportunities that will challenge your thinking.  Some of the program highlights include:

The Phoenix in Clayton County...A Guest Article

On August 28, 2008, Clayton County Public Schools became the first school district in the United States to lose accreditation since 1969.  The effects of accreditation revocation rippled through the district in ever-increasing waves of issues.  As a member of the district’s administrative staff and a thirty-five year resident of the county, I can attest to the challenges and heartaches that were felt by everyone—students, teachers, administrators, community members, as well as business and government leaders.  From the youngest student to the senior citizens of Clayton County, all eyes were focused on the school system.  Any observer could readily detect the decline in student enrollment and the decrease in morale.  The collapse of property value and business income translated into a loss in tax revenue and thus fewer resources.  Each issue brought with it more problems and those problems generated others.  It seemed that the district that I had loved and worked in for almost thirty years was disintegrating right before my eyes.  Read more.
