I am very proud to announce the Fifth Annual SEMPA Emergency Medicine Conference! Our move to Arizona for the 2008 Conference proved to be a good one: we set an attendance record with over 400 of our colleagues on site. We’re back in Florida April 5-9, 2009, to enjoy the Gulf Coast at the Marco Island Marriott Resort & Spa on Marco Island.
“The best speakers of any meeting I have been to in the last 32 years.”
Tucson 2008 attendee
Each year we build the Conference around our attendees’ requests for both lecture and workshop content. That input tailors the core Conference and enables us to meet the needs of our membership. The academic program, which offers something for everyone, will be presented by a distinguished faculty from across the country. We are bringing back the faculty whom you ranked as your favorites, as well as introducing new speakers to SEMPA. Some of the names will look familiar, but the educational content changes with each Conference.
“This was the best PA conference I have been to…ever.

For Marco Island, I am very proud of the faculty joining us and the tremendous range of topics….most which you specifically requested. You asked for a lecture on gynecological emergencies; we are offering one. You requested more cardiology and we have invited back the popular faculty who has presented the topic in the past. You want more ultrasound offerings so rather than one all-day session, we are offering three separate workshop sessions focusing on different content.
“Great conference, terrific speakers, relevant topics.”

This is your Conference and we try to bring you a broad selection of lectures, workshops, and other focused learning opportunities. No matter what your level of professional experience or responsibility in Emergency Medicine, you’ll gain new skills and knowledge of cutting-edge tools, techniques, and trends in Emergency Medicine.
In addition to high quality CME, we also offer a unique opportunity to join hundreds of your EMPA colleagues to share ideas and challenges. You asked for more opportunities to interact with your colleagues so rather than one large welcome session, we are gathering Monday and Tuesday evening on the beautiful Gulf Shore to mingle.
We will also hold the annual SEMPA membership meeting, so you can meet and talk with the SEMPA Board of Directors as well as committee chairs. This is an important opportunity to share your views and provide valuable input on what you want us to focus on for the future of our profession. We want your involvement...please consider joining one of the committees, or suggest a project you’d like to work on or run for the SEMPA Board of Directors.
There is ample time to connect with your colleagues during several time segments set aside for you to enjoy breakfast or refreshments while you explore our expanded Exhibit Hall and visit with the vendors whose products and services catch your interest.
Look over the broad selection of learning opportunities and social interaction and you’ll see that the SEMPA Conference has evolved to the premier emergency medicine conference for EMPAs.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at jkrueger@sempa.org.
Hope to see you in Marco Island and thank you for your support!
