HIT - What is it and why do I need to know anythin
|
|
| |
| 1. HIT – Health Information Technology
2. HIT - a means to an end, and the end is better health care.
3. HIT - a tool to help achieve better health care and it succeeds or fails to the extent that providers and patients make productive use of the technology.
4. HIT - Think big. Understand the full scope of what you’re trying to accomplish before you start programming, purchasing, or installing. It is easier to change product specifications when you’re planning than after you’ve invested thousands/ millions of dollars and a lot of labor.
5. HIT - Get physician (and even patient) input into the process early. If a piece of technology doesn’t meet their needs, it won’t get used.
The Texas Health IT Summit – Houston is your chance to ask questions, to understand “meaningful use”, to network with peers who have already begun the exercise of incorporating an electronic health record into their practice, and to have hands-on experience with EHR products. It will be worth every minute and dollar you spend! |
