Expectations for 2011 Summit Presenters
|

If your proposal is accepted, the primary presenter will receive a discounted registration rate for the Summit. Additional presenters must register and pay registration fees for the Summit. Presenters provide sufficient quantities of all handout materials (at their expense) for session attendees. Presenters provide their own laptop computers and LCD projectors. Each room will have a screen and AV cart. Internet connections are available only at presenter’s expense. Presentations need to be engaging, informative, and designed to maximize an adult learning experience. |

Presentations must pertain to at least one of the following Summit Program Strands. Examples of possible presentation topics follow each Program Strand – topics are not limited to the examples. Please choose the strand that most closely reflects the content of your presentation.
Leveraging Change
Proposals submitted for this theme should focus on:
- leading, implementing, and sustaining change initiatives, frameworks, models and theories
- assessing and maximizing the impact of change initiatives on organizational behavior and employee performance
- shaping a culture that is adaptive to change and promotes learning, risk-taking and innovation
- establishing, implementing, and evaluating the impact of powerful professional development
Improving the Instructional Core
Proposals submitted for this theme should focus on:
- strategies for engaging in continuous assessment and improvement of teaching and learning within the classroom environment
- identifying what is taught, how it is taught, how it is measured, and how physical space and time are used to promote learning
- improving the essential interactions between the teacher, student, and content
- ensuring strategic and equitable resource management to support and enhance teaching and learning
- devising and implementing strategies for assessing and enhancing teacher effectiveness
Continuing Improvement through Accreditation
Proposals submitted for this theme should focus on:
- using accreditation to monitor and evaluate a culture of continuous improvement
- engaging stakeholders in meaningful ways to build and sustain ownership of purpose and action
- utilizing data to make instructional decisions, increase student learning, or improve organizational effectiveness
- successfully implementing the AdvancED accreditation process
- applying feedback from your QAR to improve student learning and organizational performance
- using accreditation to meet NCLB/Accountability requirements and processes
Innovative Leadership
Proposals submitted for this theme should focus on:
- establishing and modeling shared leadership to create mutual understanding and support of common goals and expectations
- setting and monitoring expectations to inform the institution of its progress
- employing systemic and systematic structures for improvement in support of student learning
- providing strategic direction and guidance to shape actions and behaviors that increase student learning and organizational effectiveness
